Don't Bring Your Station To The Airport
I knew there would be problems when Game Boy returned with a brand new Play Station 3.
“How on earth are you going to get that home?” I asked. “Will it even work in England?”
Game Boy assured me it would, but admitted it was a bit awkward to carry. Despite this, he managed to cram it into his suitcase and we made off for the airport. Grumpy and I checked in as Game Boy and crew went off to another desk. After 20 minutes we realized there was a problem.
“Sorry, you have far too much weight, you’ll either have to pay an extra $50 or move your stuff around to spread it all round,” said the unusually helpful assistant. (Arriving far too early probably helped too, which was just as well).
So all at once, we were one of that party, you know, the ones you see unpacking everything all over the airport in a desperate attempt to get everything onto the plane.
Eventually all was well, we got on the plane and arrived in England eight hours later. Bleary eyed we stumbled through customs, to realize we had lost Game Boy somewhere along the way.
This time he was caught for trying to bring a Play Station into the country without declaring it. Luckily the customs men let him off with a warning.
Moral of the story: If you want a cheap games console, make sure it is small enough to bring into the country without drawing too much attention to yourself. Or better still, don’t buy it in the first place!
