Happy Chanukahmas
Although Chanukah is two weeks away and Christmas slightly longer, today I celebrated both in one day.
1. I began by helping out in the synagogue gift shopping selling Chanukah gifts and goodies to the congregation. Ok, so I only really stood around chatting before buying a couple of things myself, but at least I was behind the counter instead of in front of it.
2. I dashed off through the snow in a no horse open Yaris to cover my first local reporting job in nearly 30 years. Do I know how to advance a career? Well obviously not. I know I've been freelancing but this was the first time I have actually been to report on a specific event. It was a booksigning by the director of Naperville's Municpal Band. A few members of the band were on hand to play Christmas carols. It was very festive, although to be honest a little odd as they were sandwiched between racks of cards and magazines.
3. I rushed back to CBS for their Chanukah concert. It was really enjoyable apart from the bit where I was invited up on stage to do a commercial for the Purim spiel. They should know by now I only work from a script. Technically I suppose that makes it three festivals.

The correct combination of christmas and chanukah is Christmukah but I guess originality is the key for you mum!
