Nearly New
After being in Naperville for eight months, today I finally got around to attending the Naperville Newcomers' and Neighbors Club. It took a new friend, recently relocated from New York, to drive me the two miles to the venue at the Municipal Hall in dowtown Naperville!
The group is super friendly, and typically of Naperville, isn't just for newcomers at all. Many of them have lived here for years, but like it so much they stay on.
The club consists of around 40 different activity groups, and if that's not enough you can always start up a new one.
I returned home full of enthusiasm, and immedietly started trawling through the list of things to do. Here are some of them:
Rusty Bridge: Good grief, is Naperville so perfect that they have to appoint a group to make it look bad?
Spades: No idea what this is. Perhaps a quirky name for a gardening club? Or undertakers?
Girls on Bikes: Not this girl
Bunco: This is particularly worrying. There is a daytime version, an evening version and even one specially for couples! Sounds like some kind of swingers club.
Of course there are also the more typical American activities like scrapbooking, quilting and eating. Now that's something I could try....
