Juneau always sounded like such a fascinating place to visit. It's an old gold mining town, rich in history after all. We found it to be simply a tourist trap. The entire downtown is nothing but souvenir shops. There's a soup kitchen for residents right next door to the diamond store. Very disappointing. The other problem is the weather. Of course they can't help that, but a tourist town where it rains most of the time with no redeeming features? Another win to the cruise ships.
