Hair Today - And Tomorrow
Always up for something new, when my hairdresser asked me to model for her I didn't hesitate in saying yes. After all, who wouldn't say yes to a free hair do?
Of course as usual I had no idea what was involved.
"I'll be back in a couple of hours," I told Grumpy optimistically on Sunday morning.
When I got to the salon I found five other women waiting. Turns out the reason I was selected was not because of my great beauty, but because my hair is grey! I realize this comes as a bit of a surprise, I'm sure you all thought my rich tones and golden highlights were natural, but I have to confess I do have a teeny bit of help.
Anyhow, turns out I was modeling for a Redkin demonstration and show this morning. So not only did my couple of hours turn into seven yesterday, but a further five today!
I must admit it wasn't all hard work. I quite enjoyed my new hairdressers Justin, Steven and Hugo. Justin and Hugo had flown in all the way from LA. Hugo usually charges $125 for a haircut alone so I suppose it was quite a bargain.
The main challenge for me was that the show was held several miles away from here in Addison. Since I barely drive out of Naperville I threw a diva fit until my hairdresser arranged a lift for me. (Some models can be very high maintenance you know).
We had to take with two of our own outfits, one casual, one smart so Justin could chose which was best. I wasn't sorry he chose the casual outfit for me, but obviously my interpretation is that the formal outfit is terrible so I'll probably throw it out!
Apparently the model's mantra is 'hurry up and wait' which certainly sums up the day. Finally, finally, it was my turn to go on stage. All I had to do was stand still while Justin whittled on about my hair and Hugo fluffed it up. I must have been the only model there who was disappointed she wasn't able to speak.
Of course Grumpy was completely underwhelmed by the whole thing as usual.
"Looks no different to normal," he said.

Could be worse. You could come home completely bald as I did. Next year talk Grumpy into joining me - or you can.
